Former Falcons Kate Moloney, Liz Watson and Tegan Phillip will lead the Melbourne Vixens in 2017

Moloney Named Melbourne Vixens Captain

 

The Melbourne Vixens are pleased to announce, Kate Moloney, as Captain of the Vixens for the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball Season.

 

Moloney headlines a new-look women’s Leadership Group that will be charged with guiding the team and importantly driving the Vixens core values in 2017.

 

The 24-year-old mid-court specialist will be supported by Tegan Philip and Liz Watson, who have been appointed joint Vice-Captains.

 

“I am so excited and honoured, to have been named Captain of the Vixens for the 2017 Suncorp Super Netball Season,” said Moloney.

 

With a 2016 vice-captaincy under her belt, Moloney is looking forward to stepping up to the role of Captain.

 

“It is such a privilege to be part of the leadership group alongside Tegan and Liz. Now I just can’t wait to hit the court,” said Moloney.

 

Of the selection process Melbourne Vixens Head Coach, Simone McKinnis, said “The athletes nominate who they would like to see lead the team.

 

“The team’s decision was quite unanimous, with Kate a standout, along with great support for Tegan and Liz,” said McKinnis.

 

“Kate, Tegan and Liz have all been instrumental in bringing the team together as we approach the start of the season, and I am really pleased to see them take on the Captaincy and Vice-Captaincy,” said McKinnis.

 

Moloney will lead out the Melbourne Vixens for the first time when they host cross-town rivals Magpies Netball, dubbed ‘The Battle’ at Hisense Arena on Saturday.
